Gan HaShlosha
Situated at the foot of Mount Gilboa, Gan Hashlosha National Park (Sahne in Arabic) is named after the three inspectors sent by the Jewish National Council to survey the land on the banks of the Jordan River, who were brutally killed when their jeep hit a land mine near the Arab village of Samaria. Despite the tragic circumstances indicated in the reserve's namesake, Gan HaShlosha easily offers one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Israel.
Gan HaShlosha consists of numerous pool-shaped hot water springs connected by delicately tumbling waterfalls. The reserve is a sight not to be missed when on a Jewish heritage tour. Of its many attractions, the Sahne's greatest draw is its hot springs where bathing is possible year-round thanks to the water's comfortable temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) during all seasons.
Gan HaShlosha Nature Reserve
Swimming in Gan HaShlosha's warm waters bathers are accompanied by bands of fish that are usually not very shy, drawing close in hopes of getting food. These fish are harmless and quite amusing, and are sure to make your Israel tour all the more unforgettable.
For those who don't want to get wet, the reserve offers well kept grassy lawns and many shady enclaves. It will be well worth your time to take a stroll on the grounds and discover the many treasures tucked away on land.
One such treasure is the Museum of Mediterranean Archeology situated on the premises and consisting of ancient Greek artifacts and findings from the Beit She'an Valley. Another treasure is a slice of history in the shape of a miniature model of the "tower and stockade" settlement called Tel-Amal (Homa ve Migdal in Hebrew). Indeed, on he reserve's rolling lawns visitors will find an exact replica of the 1930s kibbutz-like settlement, built by the early Zionist pilgrims who came to settle the land and destroyed in 1936. The model includes three period huts, a watchtower and a barn. Visitors are welcome to climb the watchtower and observe the grounds from above.
Gan Garoo Park - Australian Wildlife in Israel
A short distance from Gan HaShlosha, those on a family tour to Israel will find the perfect destination—a unique corner of Australian nature in Israel called Gan Garoo Park . Here kangaroos, koalas and rare birds wander in a custom built environment aimed to simulate their native Australia. The animals who now call Gan Garoo home were donated to Israel by the Australian government as a token of friendship between the two countries.
And if patting Australian rabbits and feeding kangaroos is not enough excitement for the kids, a ten minute walk away from the animal quarters you will find some more childrens' activities. The giant maze and fun-house mirrors are sure too keep your kids content and occupied for a good few hours!
Gan HaShlosha National Park - Amenities and Services
While you will be asked to pay a nominal fee at the entrance, the reserve's amenities and services are well worth the fee and sure to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.
Added to the hot springs, the museum and the replica of Tel-Amal, Gan HaShlosha offers a fully operating flour mill which adds beauty and character to the reserve, as well as a traditional Arab entertainment hall where visitors are welcome to lounge and relax. Especially important is that the pools are watched over by a staff of trained lifeguards, as are all water activities.
More amenities include the natural Jacuzzi under the man-made waterfall and water slides for the little ones. Showers, a restaurant and changing rooms are also at your disposal most hours of the day.
