  • Depart for Israel.

Day Two: Wednesday, May 20, 2020

  • Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport.
  • Transfer (on own) to the hotel in Tel Aviv (individual transfers can be booked with ARZA world).
  • Check into the hotel.
  • 6:00 p.m. Meet in the hotel lobby.
  • Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Day Three: Thursday,
May 21, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Challenges and Triumphs of Religious Pluralism and Social Justice in Israel: Meet with Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC).
  • Discover the archaeological treasures and other highlights of the Jewish Quarter:
  • Ascend to the rooftops of the Old City for a behind-the-scenes look at the various communities in Jerusalem and how they live alongside each other.
  • Walk through the Cardo - the main street of Jerusalem in the 6th century, King Hezekiah's First Temple-period “Broad Wall” and Hurva Square.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Proceed to the Western Wall Tunnel, the underground continuation of the Temple Mount's Western Wall, exposed in recent years.
  • One Mountain, Three Religions: Explore of Zion, the traditional burial site of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and a mosque - all sharing a single building.
  • Stroll along the Ben-Yehuda Street and Nachalat Shiva pedestrian malls; dinner on own.

Day Four: Friday, May 22, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Telling Our Stories - The Memory of the Holocaust: Dialogue with a Holocaust scholar.
  • Visit Yad Vashem, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including:


  • The Avenue of the Righteous
  • The Historical Museum
  • The Children's Memorial


  • The Sculpture Garden
  • The Valley of the Communities


  • Experience the sights, smells, and tastes of Jerusalem while walking through the Machaneh Yehuda open-air market, with lunch on own account.
  • Time to prepare for Shabbat.
  • Kabbalat Shabbat services at Kehilat Mevasseret in Mevasseret Zion, led by Rabbi Alona Nir.
  • Home Hospitality Shabbat dinner/communal Shabbat dinner with local congregants.

Day Five: Saturday, May 23, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

Option 1

  • Descend to the Dead Sea Basin
  • Ascend by cable car or walk up the Snake Path to Masada, Herod's mountain palace and the site of the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Roman Legionnaires. Discuss Masada's role as a symbol of Jewish defense and its current significance in modern Israel.
  • Lunch at Kibbutz Ein Gedi and free time for spa treatments.
  • Experience the weightlessness of the Dead Sea as you float in its waters.
  • Descend to the Dead Sea Basin

Option 2

  • Visit Qumran, the area where the Dead Sea Sect established a community and the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
  • Lunch at Kibbutz Ein Gedi and free time for spa treatments.
  • Take a short walk to the Ein Bokek Springs at the southern end of the Dead Sea.


  • Return to Jerusalem.
  • Free time in the Mamilla pedestrian arcade, a contemporary shopping area with a touch of the past, located outside the Jaffa Gate of the Old City; dinner on own account.

Day Six: Sunday, May 24, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out.
  • Join Women of The Wall for Rosh Hodesh prayers.
  • Depart Jerusalem and drive north.
  • Visit the Bio-Bee Biological Systems in Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, leading experts in the mass production of beneficial insects and mites for agricultural purposes, cooperating with Palestinians and Jordanians.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Lada'at Kinneret Cemetery: Enter the world of early Zionist pioneers and learn about their hopes and dreams, their trials and tribulations and their ultimate success. Pause at the graves of legendary personalities such as Rachel the Poetess, Zionist philosopher Ber Borochov and national songwriter Naomi Shemer.
  • Continue to the Kinneret Farm, an experimental training farm, founded in 1908, leading the way to increase women's participation in the Zionist endeavor.
  • Drive through Tiberias on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and stop at the gravesite of the Rambam.
  • Continue to the Upper Galilee and check into the hotel.
  • Dinner the hotel.

Day Seven: Monday, May 25, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Walk through the Tel Dan Nature Reserve, located on the largest tributary of the Jordan River, and explore the ruins of the great biblical city of Dan;


  • Take a nature walk along the Banias Stream at the base of the Golan Heights.
  • Continue to the Hula Lake (Agamon HaHula) for bike-riding, golf-carting, nature walks and bird-watching.
  • Proceed to a Druze village for a window into the unique world of the Israeli Druze community, with lunch on own account.
  • Take a tour of the award-winning Golan Heights Winery, followed by wine tasting.
  • Dinner at the hotel.
  • Kibbutz Ideology and Israeli Reality in the 21st Century: Meet with second-generation kibbutz member.

Overnight: Kibbutz Hotel, Upper Galilee

Day Eight: Tuesday, May 26, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out.
  • Drive to Tsfat, a center of Jewish mysticism for hundreds of years and a contemporary artists' colony:
    • Explore the Ari, Caro or Abuhav Synagogues, each with its great stories and mystical messages.
    • Walk through the quaint Artists' Colony, its galleries and craft shops; meet with local artisans inspired by the messages of Kabbalah.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Participate In a seminar on Arab-Jewish coexistence at the Givat Haviva Seminar Center.
  • Continue along the Mediterranean coast.
  • Stop at the Ancient Roman Aqueduct, located on the pristine beaches of Caesarea. With the ruins of a past empire to your backs, enjoy the power of the sand, sea and the rush of the water as you celebrate your journey throughout Israel.
  • Enter Tel Aviv, the city that never sleeps.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Dinner on own account, perhaps at Tel Aviv's renovated old train station, now a center of boutiques and good food.

Day Nine: Wednesday, May 27, 2020

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit Jaffa and delve into the interwoven history of Jews and Arabs in the ancient/modern city.
  • Challenge, Question, Engage and Enlighten: Proceed to Bina, the Secular Yeshiva, which represents the Secular Jewish Renaissance and Yahadut Hevratit (Jewish Social Activism) in Israel.
  • Walk through colorful Neve Zedek, one of Tel Aviv's earliest neighborhoods, nowadays a cultural mecca hosting small boutiques, galleries, and the Suzanne Dellal dance and theater center.
  • LaDa'at Ethnic Tasting Tour: walk through Tel Aviv's famous Levinsky Market, where you'll find a combination of foods and sweets from all over the Mediterranean and hear the unique stories of the individuals who sell them; lunch on own account if still hungry!
  • Start-Up Nation: Delve into the world of renowned Israeli inventions and creations at the State of Mind Innovation Center and meet with an up-and-coming start-up entrepreneur.
  • Late check-out from the hotel.
  • Festive farewell dinner.
  • Transfer (on own) to Ben Gurion International Airport and check in for your flight.

Need to Know

  • Registration deadline: 30 Jan 2020
  • Group rates are per person based on double occupancy and a minimum of 20 full paying participants per bus. Should the number of participants drop below the minimum listed above, we will adjust the cost of the trip to reflect the additional expense of operating the program.
  • Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel accommodations, motor coach transportation, special dinners, sightseeing, admissions, luggage handling and the services of local guides, drivers, and the tour guide/educator are included.
  • Payment Policy
    Da'at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancellation policies and initial deposits. Notification of any changes will be made explicitly to the participants where relevant.
    - Initial deposit of $500 per person, non-refundable, non-transferable is due at the time of reservation unless another amount is indicated for the particular trip or seminar.
    - Final payment is due 90 days before the scheduled trip begins, or as specified in your invoice.
  • Cancellation Policy:
    Cancellations need to be made in writing. Cancellation fees will be based on the date that the written cancellation is received.
    Cancellation fees:
    • 90 days or more prior to departure: the deposit
    • 89 to 46 days prior to departure: 50% of the total trip cost
    • 45 days to the day of departure/no-show: 100% of the total trip cost
      Cancellation fees may also include:
      - Hotel or supplier cancellation fees.
      - For trips in Israel only: The cost of the PEACE OF MIND TRAVEL PROTECTION PROGRAM (POM), if this was purchased.
      - Group airfare penalty fee.
  • Hotel Accommodations: The trip price includes all hotel accommodations, in hotel rooms with private baths. Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of the accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort. Two-bedrooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples are two-bed rooms with a rollaway cot where available and are not recommended when considering the comfort of those in the room. King-size beds are not available in most hotels; what is considered king-size usually consists of two single beds pushed together and made up separately, but with one headboard. Some two-bed rooms may have two twin - not full- or queen-size - beds.
  • Meals are included as specified in the itinerary.
  • Tour Educator or Guide: All trips are conducted by our tour educators or local guides who remain with the group throughout the tour.
  • Gratuities Included: All gratuities for restaurant staff at group meals are included.


  • Transportation in the evening when dinner is on own.
  • Amendments to the program: In the event that any sites, programs or meals etc are added to the program, an additional fee may be required.
  • Personal extras: Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d'hotel menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes, unless otherwise specified.
  • Water or snacks on the bus (unless indicated otherwise)
  • US and foreign airport taxes, Q fuel surcharge and border taxes when applicable.
  • Gratuities for Tour Educator (Guide) and Driver. We recommend the following guidelines for tips (amounts indicated in US dollars):


  • Group of 20 participants and more: 
    Tour Educator: $8 | Driver: $4 - per participant per day

  • Hostess (when included in the package):
    $2 per participant per day or a minimum of $50 per day total
  • Security guard and/or a youth counselor (when included):
    $1 per participant per day per security guard, per youth counselor
