ARRIVAL 

  • Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport.
  • Transfer (on own) to the hotel in Tel Aviv (individual transfers can be booked with ARZA world).
  • Check into the hotel
  • The Reform Jewish World: Delve into the world of the Reform Movement in Israel and have dinner with Rabbi Gilad Kariv, Executive Director of the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism or Rabbi Noa Sattath, Director of the Israel Religious Action Center.

Overnight: Tel Aviv


Day Three: Friday, March 1, 2019
EXPLORING THE TAPESTRY OF THE NORTH 

  • Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out.
  • Guided visit to Beit She'arim, the site of a 1,800-year-old Jewish necropolis and the graves of some of the most important codifiers of Jewish tradition, declared a UNESCO
  • Drive to Haifa and the Leo Baeck School, the Israeli Reform Movement's flagship school, which provides innovative educational opportunities and community services and is home to the Ohel Avraham congregation.
  • Proceed to the Baha'i Gardens and gold-domed Shrine of the Bab, one of the holiest sites of the Baha'i religion, on the slopes of Mount Carmel.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Kabbalat Shabbat services at a local synagogue at Or Hadash with Rabbi Oshrat Morag followed by communal Shabbat dinner with local congregants.

Overnight: Haifa


Day Four: Saturday, March 2, 2019
THE SECRETS OF THE CARMEL MOUNTAIN  

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Morning worship.
  • Walk along the colorful Pedestrian Mall of Zichron Ya'acov, one of the first communities established by the early Zionist pioneers.
  • Proceed to wine tasting at a local winery.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Walk through the glorious Ramat Hanadiv Gardens, dedicated to Baron de Rothschild (the “Nadiv” or “Benefactor”), located on the outskirts of Zichron Ya'acov.
  • Ben Kodesh Lechol:
  • Dinner (on own account), en route.
  • Return to the hotel.

Day Five: Sunday, March 3, 2019
DIVERSITY, HISTORY & MORE 

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Depart for Akko (Acre), a UNESCO Heritage Site, for a multi-layered experience from the days of the Crusades through contemporary Israel, including:
    • The restored Crusaders' Fortress.
    • The renovated Turkish Bath (Hamam), with its unique audio-visual experience.
    • The Ottoman Fortifications around the city.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Drive to Rosh Hanikra, at the northern tip of Israel's Mediterranean coastline. Take a cable car down to the beautiful sea grottoes, carved out of soft chalk cliffs by eons of wave action.
  • Join a hands-on Israeli cooking experience with Galileat at a local Arab or Druze home and explore the world of Arab cooking, including dinner.
  • Return to the hotel.

Day Six: Monday, March 4, 2019
OPENING THE TENT  

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit Sindyanna of Galilee, a female-led, fair-trade NGO promoting the concept of “business for peace” by selling Arab producers' olive oil and channeling the profits into Arab women's education while bridging cultural divides and encouraging sustainable agriculture.
  • Lunch (on own account), en route.
  • Proceed to the Arab village of Shfaram, meet with locals, and walk through the local synagogue, church, and mosque with Rabbi Leora Ezrachi-Vered of Kehilat Nigon Halev at the Jezreel Valley, partnering with the local community on a variety of interfaith projects;

OR

  • Visit a local reform community and meet with participants of the Mother-Daughter Bnot Mitzvah program.
  • Drive to Tel Aviv, also known as “the city that never sleeps.”
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Meet with representatives of Women Wage Peace, which promotes non-violence, respect and mutually-acceptable solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
  • Rendezvous with the main Trip/WOW Mission.
 

Need to Know

  • Registration deadline: November 30, 2018
  • Group rates are per person based on double occupancy and a minimum of 10 full paying participants per bus. Should the number of participants drop below the minimum listed above, we will adjust the cost of the trip to reflect the additional expense of operating the program.
  • Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel accommodations, motor coach transportation, special dinners, sightseeing, admissions, luggage handling and the services of local guides, drivers, and the tour guide/educator are included.
  • Payment Policy
    Da'at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancellation policies and initial deposits. Notification of any changes will be made explicitly to the participants where relevant.
    - Initial deposit of $500 per person, non-refundable, non-transferable is due at the time of reservation unless another amount is indicated for the particular trip or seminar.
    - Final payment is due 90 days before the scheduled trip begins, or as specified in your invoice.
  • Cancellation Policy:
    Cancellations need to be made in writing. Cancellation fees will be based on the date that the written cancellation is received.
    Cancellation fees:
    • 90 days or more prior to departure: the deposit
    • 89 to 46 days prior to departure: 50% of the total trip cost
    • 45 days to the day of departure/no-show: 100% of the total trip cost
      Cancellation fees may also include:
      - Hotel or supplier cancellation fees.
      - For trips in Israel only: The cost of the PEACE OF MIND TRAVEL PROTECTION PROGRAM (POM), if this was purchased.
      - Group airfare penalty fee.
  • Hotel Accommodations: The trip price includes all hotel accommodations, in hotel rooms with private baths. Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of the accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort. Two-bed rooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples are two-bed rooms with a rollaway cot where available and are not recommended when considering the comfort of those in the room. King-size beds are not available in most hotels; what is considered king-size usually consists of two single beds pushed together and made up separately, but with one headboard. Some two-bed rooms may have two twin - not full- or queen-size - beds.
  • Meals are included as specified in the itinerary.
  • Tour Educator or Guide: All trips are conducted by our tour educators or local guides who remain with the group throughout the tour.
  • Gratuities Included: All gratuities for restaurant staff at group meals are included.

 PRICE EXCLUDES

  • Transportation in the evening when dinner is on own.
  • Amendments to the program: In the event that any sites, programs or meals etc are added to the program, an additional fee may be required.
  • Personal extras: Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d'hotel menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes, unless otherwise specified.
  • Water or snacks on the bus (unless indicated otherwise)
  • US and foreign airport taxes, Q fuel surcharge and border taxes when applicable.
  • Gratuities for Tour Educator (Guide) and Driver. We recommend the following guidelines for tips (amounts indicated in US dollars):

TRIPS TO ISRAEL:

  • Group of 10-19 participants and more: 
    Tour Educator: $10 | Driver: $6 - per participant per day

  • Hostess (when included in the package):
    $2 per participant per day or a minimum of $50 per day total
  • Security guard and/or a youth counselor (when included):
    $1 per participant per day per security guard, per youth counselor
