Arriving in Israel
Visitors traveling on an Israel tour require a passport that is valid for at least six months, and will be asked to complete an entry form during the flight. It’s important to fill it accurately and retain a copy for submission at the end of your trip to Israel. On arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport, the completed entry form and passport are submitted at border control. Once the passport is stamped with an entry visa, passengers proceed to the luggage hall, followed by customs control.
Israel Customs
Passengers with goods to declare should go through the red lane. Other passengers may pass through the green lane. Articles that do not need to be declared include no more than one liter of spirits, two liters of wine, and 250 grams of tobacco per person aged 17 and over. In addition, gifts and electronic goods worth no more than $200 can be brought into Israel, as well as no more than three kilograms of food. More information about Israel customs and regulations.
Leaving Israel
All travelers leaving Israel go through a security check, followed by the airline check-in. Once going through passport control, passengers can enjoy the various amenities located in and around the central rotunda, including cafes and plenty of duty free shopping opportunities. There is also a synagogue. Automatic walkways lead from the central rotunda to all the departure gates.
Transportation to and from Ben-Gurion Airport
Ben-Gurion Airport is only twenty minutes by train from Tel Aviv, and approximately an hour and twenty minutes by train to Haifa. For train schedules, visit the Israel Railways website. For Jerusalem, buses are more practical. Information about bus services to and from the airport is available at the Egged website. There is also a shared taxi service to Jerusalem based on a fixed rate per passenger. Private taxis are available to all destinations.
