Gan Hashelosha (Sahne)

At the foot of Mount Gilboa, Gan Hashelosha National Park, also known as Sahne, its Arabic name, is an idyllic spot for enjoying a lazy summer afternoon. Numerous pool-shaped hot water springs are connected by delicately tumbling waterfalls, making it a must-see site on any Israel tour. With its hot springs and comfortable water temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s also a great stop in the winter. If you’re not much a swimmer, take a walk and enjoy the well-kept grassy lawns and shady spots. Visit the Museum of Mediterranean Archeology on the premises for a viewing of ancient Greek artifacts and findings from the Beit Shean Valley.

Tel Amal

Check out the miniature model of the tower and stockade settlement called Tel-Amal or Homa v’Migdal in Hebrew. It is an exact replica of the 1930s agricultural settlement built by the early Zionist pilgrims who came to settle the land, and was destroyed in 1936. The model includes three period huts, a watchtower and a barn. Visitors are welcome to climb the watchtower and observe the grounds from above.

Australian Wildlife in Israel

Not far from Gan Hashelosha is a wonderful family tour destination — a unique corner of Australian nature in Israel called Gan Garoo Park. Kangaroos, koalas and rare birds wander in an environment created to simulate their native Australia – while in Israel. The animals at Gan Garoo were donated to Israel by the Australian government as a token of friendship between the two countries. And if patting Australian rabbits and feeding kangaroos is not enough excitement for the kids, visit the giant maze and fun house mirrors – enough to make everyone happy.

Amenities and Services

In addition to the hot springs, the museum and the replica of Tel-Amal, Gan Hashelosha has a fully operating flourmill and a traditional Arab entertainment hall where visitors are welcome to relax. The pools and all water activities are watched over by a staff of trained lifeguards.

Relax in the natural jacuzzi under a man-made waterfall and take the little ones down the water slides. Showers, a restaurant and changing rooms are also at your disposal during most of the operating hours.
